NOPD DWI Saturation Patrol Results

NEW ORLEANS — A targeted NOPD traffic enforcement operation on Thursday, September 17, resulted in more than 100 citations, several arrests and two vehicles being towed.

Officers with the NOPD Traffic Division conducted proactive patrols focused on impaired and unsafe driving in an area stretching from Canal and North Rampart streets to St. Claude Avenue and Press Street.

According to NOPD, the area was selected following reports from residents about traffic safety concerns and incidents involving suspected impaired drivers.

During the operation, officers reported:

  • More than 100 traffic citations issued
  • Two DWI arrests
  • One traffic fugitive arrest
  • Two court capias arrests
  • One municipal fugitive arrest
  • Two vehicles towed for having no insurance

NOPD said the operation was intended to provide a visible police presence while targeting dangerous and impaired driving.

“Strategic enforcement saves lives,” NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said. “Our officers are committed to protecting drivers, passengers, and pedestrians through proactive patrols and targeted traffic operations.”
